By now, I assumed we’d all be running around in maxi dresses and denim shorts, after all, it is mid May. But of course, living in the UK, sadly it was not to be. I love this spring/summer look. The trousers and jacket work really well together and to spice it up, I’ve added some snakeskin shoes for good measure! The best thing is, it also keeps me warm!

SensatioNail…

I recently bought this SensatioNail starter kit from Boots and I’m so happy I did! Having my nails done at the salon can get very pricey, especially if you’re addicted to shellac or gel nails, as I am. £35 a time every few weeks will leave your nails looking beautiful, but your bank balance won’t look so pretty! So, I weaned myself off of shellac and back onto regular nail polish about six months ago. The problem is, it’s just not the same. If you’re clumsy and a bull in a china shop like me, then you know that normal nail polish will chip in a matter of hours! Not only does it not last very long, but my nails don’t have the same glossy finish that you get with gel.

I wasn’t expecting very much from this set at just £69.99 (the price of two trips to my salon), but it’s fantastic. Doing your own nails at home takes a bit of getting used to, but the kit made it easy to learn quickly. My first attempt resulted in shiny new nails for about 10 days – not bad when regular nail polish doesn’t even last me the day!

It’s all in the application, the trick is not to layer it too thick. There’s a UV lamp included in the kit, which I was very impressed with. You also get a cleanser, primer, top/bottom coat & a nail colour – so you’ve got everything you need to get you started.

This was my second attempt (see bottom pic) with a new colour I bought called Taupe. The colours are £15 each at Boots, but I’ve since found the starter kit & colours cheaper at http://www.sensationail.co.uk/gel-nail-polish-kits/

Gel nails aren’t for everybody, but I certainly won’t be returning to normal nail polish anytime soon!

Olivia Palermo is beautiful and she has great style. This particular look is probably a little too out there for me but I love how fun it is.

Mixing prints is very in right now. You only have to open a recent magazine to find celebrities mixing up their looks with mix & match prints on almost every page!

Designer vs High Street…

Someone once said “Good things come in small packages”. And whoever it was, must have recently been on a shopping trip and bought themselves this tiny, perspex orange clutch.

Having seen Stella McCartney’s see-thru beauty (pictured left) for £1430 some months ago, I admired it from a far and let myself drift off into fantasy land (this is a place where I have many, many walk-in wardrobes). So imagine my delight when High Street giant Zara produced this cute and perfectly formed little bag. Is there anything more beautiful? I think not. And when I saw the price, I very nearly bought five – just for decoration.

I love how this huge statement necklace toughens up any outfit. It works with floaty dresses and gladiator sandals for a Grecian Goddess look, or just throw it on with a jumper and jeans for laid back casual style. As you can see here, It looks fab in the sunshine! I bought this from Topshop in the sale for £15 – such a bargain, as there’s a whole lot of heavy metal going on here!‬

Stripes…

So many celebs have been rocking these stripy shoes recently. Mollie King from The Saturdays is seen here wearing shoes from Dune (see bottom left pic also) for £85.

I found this gorgeous Zara pair (see top left pic), for just £39.99! I love the white stripe around the heel of the shoe – very classy.

I’m going to wear them with everything! They look great with jeans and complement the little black dress perfectly.

As you can see here on Mollie, they look particularly good with big, bold, bright colours. Ideal for the summer!

Bang on trend, look fab on, and the high street is full to the brim with them!

Whatever the weather…

So the sun has been out for all of 5 minutes – YEY! This means our doom and gloom winter wardrobes can finally go back to where they came from – the loft! The problem is it’s still a bit chilly, so we need need to cover our flesh! Cotton trousers are a great way to bridge the weird winter-spring-back to winter-and then spring again weather! I LOVE these ASOS polka dot trousers. Not only can I wear them with short sleeve blouses, t’s or vests (when it gets really warm), they can also be worn with chunky jumpers and cardies, whilst the weather is still doing its ‘thing’!

I bought these amazing Elizabeth Arden lippys in the sale for just £6.99 each. The full price is usually £18.00. The pink is very similar to MAC’s biggest seller, Girl About Town and the red is a deep blood red, which is exactly what I was looking for! These little beauts are sure to get me through the summer and they feel totally lush to wear. Some of you may have already heard about this website, but I only stumbled across it a few weeks back. And with prices like this, I’m glad I did!
